Any HLMBA member may donate a heifer to an area youth, age 6 to 18 of their locale. The youth is responsible for feeding, halter breaking and caring for the animal. The animal must be shown in as many as possible local level youth shows, and then entered into the final show which will be at the HLMBA annual sale.

The animal will be sold at the HLMBA sale and the youth will receive $500 or 50% of the sale price of the animal, which ever is greater.

"I think it is one of the best if not the best program out there for young people interested in the livestock industry.  It is a win win situation for producer and student.  I wish other breed associations would follow the lead of the Limousine association and get involved with youth who have an interest but no means.  This program offers kids an opportunity that would not be available if it weren't’t for the support of Limousine breeders.  Thanks for making my job easier, and more enriching for my students."

The top four exhibitors will be awarded prize money of $300 prize money will be divided between the top 4 heifers. This allows for a Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion in both the Division 1 and Division 2 Heifer Programs, Ribbons for the Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion, plus a showmanship Ribbon. Judging will be Saturday evening prior to the sale.

HMLBA Scholarship Program

The number of animals to be sold will be restricted. Animals must be registered with the youth. The entry fees and sales commission HLMBA sale will be waived.
This in no way is meant to conflict with the Missouri Futurity Show, or interfere with Junior Limousin members in any manner. However, any member is eligible to participate.
This is a tool to help area youth who do not have the opportunity to do this on their own, and for breeders to showcase their animals in their community. There will be news releases to Limousin World, and local radio and newspapers. Animals should be in youth’s care by May 1.
